Windswept Productions, founded in 1991, is a sprawling organization-of-two, owned and operated by David ("Doc") and Sara Gordon. It was created to provide a business framework for the various services, products, and activities they provide to the public at large.

A computer-oriented creative environment based on a hilltop overlooking Chelsea, Vermont, Windswept Productions began as a provider of inexpensive graphic design (both print and web), photographic, and Macintosh system/network services to individuals and small businesses -- and, owing to Doc's years in the music business as a writer, performer, and recording enthusiast, a digital audio project studio as well.

Over the past decade-plus, much has changed. As the World Wide Web exploded through the 90's and onward, the web-design component of WP has done likewise: increasingly sophisticated expectations of consumers (as well as increasingly sophisticated standards) have brought us to a time and place when we are able to work with a much wider range of business clients, from the Mom-and-Pops we began with to corporate accounts, utilizing a carefully developed network of skilled subcontractors in the various essential disciplines (ranging from advanced coding and scripting to database design, systems consulting and hosting) to provide even the most demanding client with state-of-the art product, one-on-one support and accountability.

During this same time, our design for print media, though still a part of what we do, has become less central. We remain active in this field and the related one of digital imaging -- one of Doc's specialties -- on an as-needed basis.

Another major component of WP has been photography. Over the years we have photographed sporting and social events for businesses and individuals, have built a substantial library of copyrighted images (specializing in the images of nature in rural New England) which we market both traditionally as framed prints or classic note cards and license for use by others, and have spent a great deal of time photographing stage performances for our own ensembles and for others'.

During this entire time, digital audio has been a fascination and an aggravation for us: a fascination because today's technology enables production capabilities and values unimaginable even 15 years ago, and an aggravation because music (and musicians) stubbornly continue to require architectural elements in the recording environment -- drum rooms, vocal booths, and the like -- that no cybernetic revolution can provide. Windswept Productions has produced many projects -- club-band demo CD's, small-group recordings, original solo projects, and more -- despite this: these days we do most of our audio work as a mixing/mastering shop, but regularly tackle the more demanding projects and continue to "grow" our studio.

Finally, we return to the business's namesake: after years of discussion, we've chosen to share the hilltop with the public in the form of a Bed & Breakfast -- without the breakfast, as we prefer minimal intrusion by the State. We are proud to share -- with a clientele limited by our other responsibilities -- our home and surroundings with those who are so inclined to experience them.
